Post Memorial Weekend

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Weekend. We spent the weekend up north (of course) and we had a pretty nice time. The weather was awesome for the majority of it. We went fishing a lot. I didn't catch ANYTHING, but Dan caught a few ones. Here's a photo of a nice bass that he caught.

Here's a photo of our last night on the lake. This was right before we got rained out.

Today I usually post my picks of the week, but it will be delayed until tomorrow because of the extended weekend. I will also be posting the results from the first of the month photo challenge and announcing the new theme. Stay tuned. :)

Jasmine's Products of the Week

Every week I feature ten new products on Zazzle that have gained my attention. If you enjoy any of these designs, please stop by the shopkeeper's page to give them a good rating and/or drop a kind comment. (Sorry for being a day late. Been very busy!)

In the D

We celebrated one of my best friend's birthday on Monday by going to the Tigers game. The whole day was gloomy and rainy, but it cleared up just in time for the game.

It's been a few years since I've been to a game at Comerica Park. I forgot how beautiful Detroit is from the stands. :)

We left the game a little early and stopped for dinner at Pizza Papalis. It's my absolute favorite place to get pizza. I went to Gino's East once while I lived in Chicago, and I have to say their deep dish pizza is not nearly as good as Pizza Papalis'. If you're ever visiting Greektown, be sure to stop by there.

Weekend Details

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Dan and I were up north for the whole weekend. The weather turned out nice and it was great to have a break from all of the rain we're having.

Dan tried catching brook trout in the river, but they weren't taking the bait. On our way back up to the house from fishing the river, we spotted this little turtle in the middle of the road, so we stopped and brought him down to the water. The picture is sort of blurry, he didn't want to bring his head out.

Today is going to be a long day. Dan and I got plans to go downtown later this evening for the Tigers game for our friend's birthday. I'm hoping for nice weather again. I'm sitting in the hospital right now waiting for my grandma to finish with her cataracts surgery than it's off to get something to eat. Hopefully I can catch up on some rest tomorrow. :)

First Doodle Speaker Sale!

I usually use my Facebook and Twitter for posting sales, but this is just too exciting! I just had my first speaker sale. It wasn't from my shop (it was a referral sale), but I am just as excited, especially with today being the launch for the speakers. The sale comes from aesthete's shop. Congratulations to you and hope you have many more speaker sales!

Lack of Posts

I've been really boring lately, and there's no explanation besides I haven't been doing too much. We're getting ready to go up north in a little while, which means I should have a bunch of photo opportunities. :) I should have some stuff to talk about after the weekend is over. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Meanwhile, Zazzle launched the Doodle Speakers. Feel free to check out the ones available in my shop. :)

Just Created a New Lens

It's been awhile since I've created any new lenses, but last night I had some inspiration for one.

I just finished it about a half an hour ago. If you have a moment, please go check it out. Be warned, it will probably make you hungry. :)

Spontaneous Walk with Pictures

Just got back from a little evening walk. Dan went up to the shooting range with his friend, so instead of sitting in the house I decided to go for a walk. It's still really nice out. Not really hot or cold and there is a nice cool breeze.

I started my walk down the main road to stop at the bank and deposit Dan's check from work. On my way, I ran into this little bunny. There are so many of them around here. Before you look at any of the pictures, just know I took these on my Samsung, so they aren't the best of quality.

After I deposited the check at the ATM, I headed over to the mall to try out this new Johnny's Yogurt place. I've been missing Yogen Fruz ever since we moved away from Illinois, and I was hoping that this Johnny's Yogurt could take it's place. No way, nuh-uh, NEVER. This place was nothing like Yogen Fruz. First of all, you have to get the yogurt yourself. You choose from different pre-made flavors (I chose strawberry) and you can top it with any of the junky toppings they have (I chose granola). It didn't taste very well at all. At Yogen Fruz, you can have them blend the fruit right into the frozen yogurt. I used to always get strawberries and raspberries mixed in and topped it with granola. It's the best thing I've ever had and I miss it so much. Dear Yogen Fruz, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease come to Michigan. You don't know how bad I need you! This was the awful yogurt I got at Johnny's:

While I was eating my [yucky] yogurt, I walked around the mall for a little bit to burn off dinner and the yogurt. I noticed other people eating yogurt from the same place, so some people must like it. As for me, I don't think I will be ever visiting again. I will say, the staff was nice and I left her a tip for explaining how everything worked for me. It's not her fault their yogurt tasted so bad.

The walk home was just as nice as the walk there. I stopped to take a picture of the mall's beautiful tulips they have planted outside.

I'm home sitting on the porch, writing this entry, enjoying a nice cold drink and waiting for Dan to come home from the range. Hope everyone's Thursday has been just as nice. :)

First of the Month Photo Challenge

For the past week, I watched as Debbie over at The Spotted Olive challenged herself to take a photo each day for seven days. This inspired me to start my own monthly photography challenge and host it right here on my blog. Every month I will give a theme that I want you to try and photograph. I will try to explain what I'm looking for as best as I can, and will provide examples of what I am talking about. I hope this challenge gets some creative juices flowing for everyone. :)

This month's theme will be architectural details. I want you to try and focus on the details of something architectural. You don't have to travel across the globe to the Taj Mahal to participate in this challenge because these kind of things are all around you. Churches, historic buildings, bridges, your own home... the possibilities are endless.

Take your photo anytime from now until the 31st of May and send them to my email address at jasminesphotography@yahoo.com
It can be a regular digital photo, or on a Zazzle product. If it is a regular photo, you may include your own watermark. Only 1 photo per person, please. Be sure to add your name and a link to your personal site/blog in the email so I know who to credit. A short description of what you photographed would be great, but is optional. I will be accepting entries until MAY 31 8PM EST. All entries will appear in a blog post on the 1st of June along with a new challenge.

Here are some great examples of what I am looking for. I hope these images inspire you to take part in the challenge.

NEW BEDDING! :D

Just ordered a new bed set from Sears. I've desperately needed a new bed set for awhile now, but it's just so expensive. It's not like I had the extra money, but I decided to look around anyway. I tried Overstock and Target but didn't see anything for a really good price. I ended up on the Sears site and came across the Essential Home Belize Complete Bed Set for only $36.99. Even though that's a great price for a bed set, I was going to click out. I mean, I guess it's not a total necessity and I have more important things to spend money on, like food. Before I left the site, I remembered that someone gave me a gift card to Sears for Christmas or something. I figured it was only $20 or that I probably had already spent it. After checking the balance I discovered there was a whole $40 on the card and I only ended up having to pay $7.90 on my debit card. I'm pretty geeked. I can't believe I got that whole set for $8. If it wasn't for me being bored and curious, I wouldn't have ended up with it at all. This isn't a sponsored post, I'm just genuinely excited and wanted to share my good news with all of you. I can't wait until it comes in the mail. I'm sure I'll be taking pictures of it once I get it all set up.

That's enough about my bed. What's gotten you excited lately?
