The Biggest Spider I've Ever Seen...

We were cooking a late dinner on the grill last night when we noticed this monstrosity.

I think this has to be the biggest spider I have ever seen in person. It was definitely bigger than a quarter. Danny trapped it in a glass with a paper plate over it, and it tried to attack him through the glass. We moved it to the other side of the back yard, since it was right under the garage door. I have no idea what kind of spider this is, or if it's poisonous. I'm pretty allergic to spiders, so I think if I got bit by this thing I'd die or something. If anyone could give me an idea as to what kind of spider this is I'd appreciate it. We live in the metro Detroit area. Here is a blown up version of the photo above.

EDIT// After talking to a couple people, I've found out it's a wolf spider. EW! :(

Back from Chicago!

I'm back from my trip, and I have so much to share!

My friends and I had plans to go to the Shedd Aquarium on Saturday morning, so we woke up early and took the Metra downtown. We weren't exactly sure what the best way to get to the aquarium was, and after receiving advice from a guy selling water taxi rides, a man sitting at the bus station and a police officer, we decided to just try and walk there.

About halfway there we were stopped by a vendor who offered us a pretzel and hummus sample. It was good timing, because I was ready for a snack. There was a bunch of excitement around us because of the Puerto Rican parade, so I don't remember the brand who was providing the samples, but it was yummy! :]

After a little more walking, we could see the building and knew were almost to our destination...

And as we walked a little closer, we noticed a huge line that wrapped around the whole place. We asked a worker towards the front of the line what was going on, and he told us if we wanted tickets to get inside we'd have to go to the back of the line and wait for about an hour and a half. Uhhh, no thanks! We didn't get to go to the aquarium, but we did get to see this cool man with fish statue.

We walked down some more towards the Adler Planetarium for a good view to take some pictures of the city. I think there was some fog or something, because the visibility wasn't very clear.

We still had lots of time to kill, so we decided to head on over to the Sears Tower (sorry, I refuse to call it the Willis Tower). I've been to it before (when it was still known as the Sears Tower), but they hadn't built the walkout ledges yet when I was there so this was a new experience.

WHYYYYYYYY!

It's not fair. The power adapter on my Dell Inspiron 1545 died on me. Right before I'm getting ready to go to Chicago for the weekend, which means I can't get ANY work done. THANKS A LOT. I'm using my fiance's grandmother's PC, it's pretty old and not very fast, but I'm going to try and get done what I can.

Can someone tell me why the power adapters are such pieces of crap? They always need to be replaced and it's such a waste of money. Why haven't they figured out how to have a workable adapter yet? I've owned 2 Dell laptops now, and have had to replace the chargers multiple times. I want answers. Dell, will you please send me a lifetime supply of adapters? I'm so frustrated, I don't think I will be buying anymore Dells.

EDIT: I just found out you can play the guitar using the letters your keyboard, thanks to webguy_ on Twitter. He says to use Q-P, but I found any letters work. You have to hit the record button before the keyboard is usable, though.

The Past: Made Fresh Daily

Saturday night Dan and I ordered dinner out, and while I was sitting in the parking lot waiting for him to run in and grab the food I noticed this:

I thought the way this sign ended up was pretty funny. Any of the letters in the word "PASTIES" could have burnt out. "Past" could just as easily have been "ties." I wonder if any of the workers noticed this clever message. I wonder if I'm the only one to have noticed it at all. I wonder if I'm just really weird. I think the sign is an important reminder that every day effects our past. But like I said, maybe I'm just a bit unusual. :) What do you think?
